CUTRO, 11 MAR – The “Stop the massacre immediately” procession promoted by Rete Asilo has started and to which dozens of associations, parties, unions and movements have joined, to protest against the deaths of migrants at sea after the sinking of the boat in the waters in front of Steccato di Cutro and in which there were 74 confirmed victims including many children. Behind the cross made with the wood of the boat that crashed on a shoal, there are at least 5,000 people from all over the central-south and also from northern regions. At the start of the procession there was also an argument with a lady who from a balcony railed against the demonstrators, some of whom responded by singing Bella ciao. Among the participants also the former mayor of Riace Domenico “Mimmo” Lucano. The procession, which started from the entrance to the Steccato di Cutro hamlet, will end up on the seafront. (HANDLE).
