The actor, who was one of the protagonists of the live-action Scooby Doo, ruled out any possibility of making a third part of the Hanna-Barbera franchise.
Scooby Doo is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the biggest names in the history of cartoons. The talking dog is a product created by the Hanna-Barbera company and distributed worldwide thanks to the Warner Bros. Discovery label since 1969.

Entire generations have amused themselves with different animated versions that there has been about the character and his friends. Shaggy, Daphne, Fred and Velma are the four young researchers who help the dog to solve mysteries that always involve monsters.
In fact, Scooby Doo was so successful that the producer decided to take it to the live-action more than 20 years ago. The 2002 film and its 2004 sequel entered the film cult due to the quality of the special effects they had for their time. Also, it was not common to see a realistic adaptation of such a well-known animation.
However, while many viewers enjoyed the productions, their actors don’t seem to have had as good a time. At least this is the case Freddie Prinze Jr.who played Fred in both titles.
Trauma after Scooby Doo
The actor was recently asked if he would return to the character for a third part. “It wouldn’t be something I would do,” Prinze said. “I have zero interest. I mean, it was complicated. It wouldn’t be for me, man,” the actor said in a recent interview with TooFab.
In addition, he revealed one of the main reasons why he would not think of returning. Apparently, there were conflicts between the cast and the executive team. “There were so many baits and then so many switches in the first movie,” Prinze continued. “The studio was not honest with me one way or another… It wasn’t the best. I think I’ve been in two jobs that I regret doing, and ‘Scooby’ was one of them.” lamenting.
However, he acknowledges that this role gave him some recognition among a noble and innocent public of everything he had to live on the set of the feature film.
“Until (‘Scooby’) was seen and the kids came up to me and was like, ‘Oh my God,’ was when I was able to appreciate the experience through their souls,” Prinze added. “There are legitimate millions of people who love this movie. It’s not the movie I wanted to make, but I appreciate it. Made me change my perspective on it”, he admitted.

Consequences
On the contrary, it was also this work that closed doors for him later on. In fact, the director of I know what they did last summer, with whom he had already made the first two of the horror saga, told him that he did not want “an actor like him” in the leading role. “When that’s your first job And you hear those words, it just tears you apart, man. It just tears you apart,” Prinze shared.
In fact, from the third installment of the horror franchise, he was no longer a part. Sarah Michelle Gellarwho played Daphne, also came out.
Among all, the celebrity thanked the title for everything he got afterwards. “I wouldn’t have any of the things I have without that movie.. I wouldn’t have my wife, I wouldn’t have all the other movies I’ve done,” Prinze explained. “I am here for that fight and for that pain and it was those things,” he concluded.
A third live-action Scooby Doo movie could come after the success of the recent series Velma in HBO Max.
