KIEV – Military Russia demolish Ukraine with around 81 missiles on Thursday (9/3/2023). Moscow said the massive attack was revenge for what it called a “terrorist attack” in the Bryansk region.
The attack by dozens of Moscow missiles has crippled the power supply to Europe’s largest nuclear plant in Ukraine and plunged parts of the country into darkness.
Last week, the Bryansk region of Russia which borders Ukraine was attacked – which Moscow says was carried out by the Kiev military.
The Ukrainian government says at least six civilians were killed in today’s Russian strike, which was the first large-scale missile fire this month after a similar strike in mid-last month.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said infrastructure and residential buildings in 10 regions were affected. “The occupiers can only terrorize civilians,” he said.
The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which Russian troops captured a year ago, was left dependent on generators on Thursday.
Ukraine’s state electricity company, Energoatom, said in a statement that large-scale Russian airstrikes damaged the infrastructure that powers the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
“The final connection between the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and the Ukrainian power system was severed,” said Energoatom.
The company said the fifth and sixth reactors have been shut down and the electricity needed to run the plant is being supplied by 18 diesel generators, which have enough fuel to last 10 days.
