NEW YORK CITY – Russia refuse his war on Ukraine equated with invasion United States of America (US) and its allies against Irak .
“The origins of this crisis are completely different,” Russia’s UN Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia told journalists on Monday or on the 20th anniversary of the Iraq war.
“While (the invasion of) Iraq was (due to) a hoax, the threat of Ukraine and then the West’s proxy war with Russia is a reality,” he said.
Nebenzia said the invasion of Iraq was a violation of the UN Charter and international law, but the war in Ukraine was not the same.
However, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has repeatedly said that Russia’s aggression in Ukraine is a violation of the UN Charter and international law.
Exactly 20 years ago, the US bypassed the UN and carried out its first airstrike in Iraq over accusations from the George Walker Bush administration that Saddam Hussein’s regime possessed weapons of mass destruction.
The accusation is completely false as the fault of American intelligence.
The war in Iraq resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people and failed to dismantle weapons of mass destruction as the Bush administration had alleged.
