MOSCOW, 16 MAR – Russian opponent Yevgeny Roizman, former mayor of Yekaterinburg, has been arrested: Russian agencies report it. Attorney Idamzhapov – heard by Tass – claims that the reason is the sharing of a post on VKontakte but that the dissident would not actually be involved in the case “because he has never had his own page on the social network”. According to some media, the shared post was from Navalny’s foundation. Roizman was arrested in the summer and then released pending trial and faces several years in prison for “discrediting” the army for a new gag law that effectively prohibits criticism of the war in Ukraine.
