Russia Claims to Shoot Down Ukrainian Mi-8 Helicopter in Zaporozhye. PHOTOS/TASS
MOSCOW – Air defense forces Russia intercepting a Grom-2 ballistic missile Ukraine and shot down helicopter Mi-8 for the last few days. This was stated by a spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, Thursday (30/3/2023).
“The air defense capability shot down a Mi-8 helicopter of the Ukrainian Air Force near the settlement of Temirovka in the Zaporozhye Region,” Konashenkov said, as quoted by the TASS news agency.
Overall, since launching the invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 404 Ukrainian combat aircraft, 227 helicopters, 3,622 unmanned aerial vehicles.
“In addition, during the last 24 hour period, they intercepted a Grom-2 operational/tactical missile, three rockets from the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system, and also destroyed two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles near the communities of Novoandreyevka and Zelyony Gai in the People’s Republic of Donetsk, ” continued Konashenkov.
It was also reported that Russian forces attacked more than 90 Ukrainian artillery units at firing positions in the past few days. “In the last 24 hours, operational/tactical and military aviation aircraft, missile and artillery troops of the Russian troop group attacked 93 artillery units in firing positions, manpower and equipment in 107 areas,” he explained.
Meanwhile in the Kupyansk area, Russian troops attacked Ukrainian troops and equipment, eliminating around 50 enemy soldiers over the past few days.
“In the Kupyansk direction, military aviation aircraft and artillery from the western battle group attacked the enemy’s manpower and equipment in areas near the settlements of Gryanikovka and Sinkovka in the Kharkov, Novosyolovskoye and Stelmakhovka Regions of the Lugansk People’s Republic,” the spokesman said.
Still according to Konashenkov, the onslaught of Russian troops also destroyed ammunition depots, fuel storage facilities, and the Ukrainian army’s Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile system.
“In the residential area of Grebennikovka in the Sumy Region, the Ukrainian Buk-M1 self-propelled anti-aircraft missile launcher was destroyed. In the residential area of Olgovka in the Kherson Region, the territorial ammunition depot of the 126th defense brigade was destroyed,” he said.
“Also, the fuel storage facility of the 102nd territorial defense brigade was destroyed near the Zaliznichnoye settlement in the Zaporozhye Region,” Konashenkov added.
