At the meetingwhich brought together around 50 presidents and representatives of associations and federations that are involved in the road safety sector for various reasons, the president Giovanni Copioli intervened.
At the opening, Minister Salvini presented the Ministry’s programmatic lines, which provide for a first intervention with an “Omnibus Infrastructure Decree” which intends to deal with the most urgent problems in terms of safety, identified in the need to regulate micro-mobility, prevention, sanctions and parking , and a regulatory intervention, scheduled for the end of the year, with the modification of the New Highway Code.
During the discussion, open to all those present, President Copioli focused on the need to focus attention on the motorcyclist category, over 6 million, who travel our roads every day and are more exposed than motorists to the dangers of the road. This is why he called for their inclusion in the category of vulnerable road users, through the modification of article 3 of the New Highway Code. He also underlined the need to create a culture of road safety, with effective educational interventions for children, teenagers and adults, including through the Advanced Safe Driving Courses, dedicated precisely to more adult users and envisaged by law 120/2010, for the which awaits an implementing decree.
“I thank the Minister for having given the IMF a voice, allowing it to draw attention to the most urgent problems for motorcyclists. We are available to provide our technical support to the Ministry at any time. However, we will file a summary of our priorities, and we trust that Minister Salvini will take them into account in the drafting of the regulatory projects that he has enunciated ”, said President Copioli.
