In this regard, the Minister of Transport Matthew Salvini intervened on RTL 102.5: “Education, prevention and sanctions are needed. It is essential to have real road safety education, not an hour a semester in schools, also giving extra points on the license to those who attend these courses. To which associations can also be referred , mothers and fathers who have lost children, to explain to the kids what they risk”.
The minister is very determined on the issue of road safety, he explains that is already working on the new highway code: “I’m working on the procurement code and the new highway code,” says Salvini. “The weekend massacres are unacceptable. A colleague is dealing with immigration. To reverse this trend: road safety education, prevention and sanctions. We need to explain to 16-year-olds what they risk by car”, says Salvini. “For those who drive drugged or drunk, very severe penalties are needed: you can no longer see your license. The reform will also see what you experience on scooters, which now go 70 km/h: rules on roads and sidewalks”.
The possibility of making it compulsory will also be evaluated the matriculation of electric scooters, as well as regulate the use of the helmet and the presence of position indicators.
In one year 500 fines related to scooters
Scooters are currently under special surveillance. The news of infringements to the limit of the imaginable they arrive every day, the last one concerns two boys who have traveled a section of the highway with their scooters. Even at European level the situation is out of control so that in Paris the citizens are ready for the referendum.

In 2022 theand penalties were 500 for the most varied incorrect driving behaviour, from wild parking to exceeding speed limits, from transporting other people or animals to not using helmets for minors. The first two months of 2023 leave no doubts: there are already 102 sanctions.
Specifically in Verona they have been 244 penalties for no parking. After wild parking, the most common offense is that linked to the transport of other people or animals, 72 in total to which others add 9 almost where the scooter user has been unable to maintain control of the vehicle. Four, however, the penalties relating to the use of a scooter with a modified engine, without stop or with non-compliant brakes. Below are all the high penalties that do not specifically concern electric scooters, but still fall within the highway code, such as for example the use of the smartphone while driving.
