The owner of the restaurant, Feysun Canatar, tells the AD that he no longer wants actions at his restaurant. Animal activists demonstrated several times in front of the Italian restaurant.
Canatar feels compelled to make this choice, he says to the AD. Although the production of foie gras is prohibited in the Netherlands, its sale is not. From a legal point of view, the owner did nothing wrong, he emphasizes.
Animal unfriendly
In the production of goose liver, geese are fattened in an animal-unfriendly way. Restaurants that offer the dish are therefore regularly the target of protesters.
In January there was a protest at another restaurant in Utrecht, after which the foie gras was also removed from the menu there.
