Without a doubt, survival horror is a bloody and dark experience where Leon S. Kennedy must face the horrors of a Spanish villa and its surroundings to rescue Ashley, the president’s daughter. While the adventure has moments of unintentional humor, overall it maintains a grim and tense tone.

With this in mind, it is striking that Capcom decided to go in the opposite direction, that is, to make the official anime very colorful and joyful. Incredible as it may seem, the concept works very well and fulfills the task of entertaining and making us smile innocently.

Resident Evil 4 Remake becomes a very cute anime that will remind you of Studio Ghibli
The series of animated shorts is called Leon and the Mysterious Village and shows cute versions of the protagonist, Ashley and the fearsome enemies of the game. The first episode, titled “Looking for Ashley”, lasts just a minute and in it we see Leon meet the inhabitants of the village and then he is killed. All of this, of course, with a cheerful and colorful tone reminiscent of Studio Ghibli films like Heidi and many more.
It is a mystery how many episodes this short series will have and its release date. Either way, fans enjoyed the first episode and praised Capcom for this curious and original initiative.
In parallel to this minishow inspired by Resident Evil 4 Remake, we must remember that a new CGI action movie of the franchise is on the way. Of course, we’re talking about Resident Evil: Death Island, which is set to debut sometime this summer.
