Resident Evil 4 Remake debuted to near-perfect ratings from the press and the gaming community. However, that doesn’t mean it’s a hassle-free experience, especially when it comes to the technical side. Unfortunately, Capcom has identified a serious bug that can completely ruin your experience.
Through a post on Twitter, the studio confirmed the existence of a “rare but critical” bug that causes progress blocks on all platforms. What does that mean? Basically, the bug in question makes it impossible to finish the campaign due to missing a key item that allows progress.

How to avoid Resident Evil 4 Remake critical error?
In the statement, Capcom announced that it is already investigating the problem to provide a definitive solution as quickly as possible. In the meantime, he shared a series of tips for players that will help them prevent this glitch from appearing and ruining their games of Resident Evil 4 Remake.
First, where in the campaign does the error appear? According to the information, it occurs during the first moments of chapter 12 of the main campaign.

“A cinematic will kick off at the start of the chapter, where players will receive a key item. Please refrain from attacking with the knife until the notification stating that you obtained that item appears at the top of the screen. After getting that key item, it will appear in the Key Items menu and the treasures of the briefcase. IF it did not appear, please reload the save data before the start of chapter 12 ”, the company commented in the announcement.

With this in mind, it’s best for players to save their games before starting Chapter 12 so they can load previous save files in case the error occurs. Otherwise, they will be unable to finish the campaign until a patch is released to fix the issue.
“After the update is applied, players will be able to continue the game, even with the save data where the error previously occurred,” Capcom commented.
This issue joins the list of Resident Evil 4 Remake technical bugs. Of course, the most serious and annoying bugs are in the PlayStation 4 version, so it is not surprising that this port has an extremely low rating.
