We like to put a dollar in the Penalty Pot of Open Doors, but the unveiling of a new Lamborghini is what you call ‘quite a thing’. The brand regularly unveils a special version of existing models, but a completely new production model is very rare. And then this Lamborghini Revuelto also has a radically different powertrain.
Lamborghini kept the code name LB744 until now. Revuelto is the definitive name of the newest supercar. He succeeds the Aventador, which has been on sale since 2011. The newcomer again has a 6.5-liter V12 engine without turbos, but this time it gets help from three electric motors. Two of them are on the front axle and one is in the transmission. The Revuelto is Lambo’s first plug-in hybrid.
The most powerful V12 ever
This new V12 is called the L545 and it is the lightest and strongest twelve-cylinder of the brand ever. The engine weighs 218 kilograms, which is 17 kilograms less than the previous V12. The updated twelve-cylinder produces 825 hp at 6,750 rpm. The torque is 725 Nm at the same speed. Incidentally, the V12 climbs to 9,250 rpm. The total power of all engines is 1,015 hp.
The 0-to-100 time of the new supercar is 2.5 seconds and the top speed is over 350 km/h. You can also drive completely electrically, no less than 10 kilometers away. In electric mode, the car only has 180 horsepower. The V12 then jumps on to recharge the battery, so that you can continue to drive on the battery.
The V12 engine only drives the rear wheels and the transmission is therefore located at the very back of the car in the Lamborghini Revuelto. On the Aventador, the transmission was in the middle, in front of the engine. With the two electric motors on the front wheels, the Revuelto still has four-wheel drive. The transmission is a dual-clutch automatic; you can forget about a manual transmission.
What does the name Revuelto stand for?
According to Google Translate, Revuelto means something like “distorted.” Revueltos is also the name of a Spanish variation on scrambled eggs. But it can also mean ‘unmanageable’ or ‘turbulent’. The reason why Lamborghini uses the name is because there was a fighting bull somewhere in 1880. Yes, in 2023 Lambo also uses names of fighting bulls.
The design of the Lamborghini Revuelto
Due to the Y-shaped LED strip at the headlights, it is not difficult to see that this is a brother of the Lamborghini Sian. At the rear it is noticeable that the exhaust is placed high, just like with the Performante. There is no window above the V12 engine, so that the engine is really on display. Also check the brake light above the engine.
In any case, the price of the Lamborghini Revuelto is not yet known. We are very curious what the hybrid technology does with the price in the Netherlands.
