Crypto scammers have just made it clear that no one is safe from their misdeeds. On more than one occasion they have stolen medium-sized YouTube channels to distribute their scams and see who bites the bait. What few of us expected is that one day they would be able to steal one of the largest channels on the platform, but the reality is that they succeeded.
This morning the world of content creators was rocked by the news that Linus Tech Tips channel was hijacked by cryptocurrency scammers. If the name of the channel sounds familiar to you, it is because it is one focused on technology and which has 15 million subscribers. In fact, on more than one occasion we have told you about some of his videos.
According to information from The Verge, a hacker gained access to the account of Linus Sebastian, owner of the channel. Once he had access he decided to rename it to make it look like official Tesla media and upload a stream of Elon Musk talking about Bitcoin. As you can imagine, the stream was accompanied by unsecured links seeking to scam some percentage of Linus Tech Tips’ millions of followers.

A few moments later, the channel disappeared from YouTube. At the moment it is unknown if the hacker deleted it or if it was an attempt by YouTube to mitigate the damage.
The good news is, considering that Linus Tech Tips is one of the biggest channels on the entire site, YouTube is most likely already working on bringing it back. So, it seems a matter of time for everything to return to normal.
