Exclusive deals are not uncommon in the video game industry. PlayStation usually does them with both indie studios and companies the size of HoYoverse. Precisely this Chinese developer will launch its game Honkai: Star Rail very soon and has just announced that it will arrive on PlayStation as a console exclusive.
If you are a fan of RPGs and since Genshin Impact debuted you have become a fan of HoYoverse (formerly myHoyo), you are surely waiting for Honkai: Star Rail, a title with turn-based combat with a space fantasy theme. Well, there is excellent news, because after almost 1.5 years of its announcement, it already has a release date.
The title was originally revealed in October 2021 and since then there have been some tests thanks to which some users have been able to play it early. But it was not until today that HoYoverse announced that Honkai: Star Rail already has a release date: April 26, 2023.

Honkai: Star Rail is coming to PlayStation and not Xbox or Nintendo
As we told you, this title was in development for PC and mobile devices whose version will debut on the aforementioned date. However, as part of today’s announcement, HoYoverse revealed that PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions are already in development and will debut at a later date, but “coming soon.”
Unfortunately for Xbox and Nintendo users, nothing was said about a port for Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S or Nintendo Switch, so the HoYoverse waifus and husbandos will once again be exclusive to PlayStation consoles.
In case you missed it: HoYoverse is also working on another RPG, but it has not been confirmed that it will be exclusive to PlayStation.
Why Honkai: Star Rail won’t come to Xbox and Nintendo consoles?
HoYoverse did not say anything about this exclusivity, but let’s remember that Xbox once mentioned that it was in talks with the Chinese company to reach an agreement that would bring Genshin Impact to Xbox consoles, but they did not come to fruition. PlayStation, on the other hand, secured it, which apparently earned it console exclusivity, which, judging by what will happen with Honkai: Star Rail, is still going strong.
In its third year on the market, Genshin Impact remains exclusive to PlayStation on consoles and it is not known if the same will happen with Honkai: Star Rail.
As with Genshin Impact, HoYoverse will release Honkai: Star Rail via its official (client) page and will also be available for download via the Epic Games Store, but it will not appear on Steam. Apparently it is another exclusive agreement.
No release window for Sony’s consoles was revealed, but HoYoverse anticipated that it would talk about it at a later time.
