The Frenchman’s words on the eve of the first race of the year
March 23, 2023
Fabio Quartararo was prudent in the Thursday conference and has repeatedly reiterated the value of Ducati e you Bagnaia however, in the end, it is indicated as the favorite for the MotoGP World Championship. These are his words on the eve of the Portuguese GP.
How do you feel about 2023?
“We had so many things to test but then on the last day of testing we went back to the basics (not really, as explained by his crew chief, ed). We still have to understand how the new pieces work, with last year’s bases we went a little better. We don’t have the top speed of the others”
In which area has the M1 improved?
“We have made progress, still not enough but I believe that if we continue to work we can still improve, but we are still a long way off”
Qualifying, with the sprint race, seems even more important. Have you managed to improve?
“We’re still missing something compared to Ducati, on the last day of testing they were almost all in the top ten, a matter of details, we have to improve throughout the year, from start to finish”
What have you improved in?
“On a physical level I think I’ve grown compared to last year, there will be 21 races plus sprints, there will be more intensity, and the FP2s will also be one hour long, it will be intense”
On the Sprint race…
“We will add another 21 Sprints and if this helps to add fans that’s fine, that’s good, but there are more risks for the riders. We will have to try to figure out how to manage it all”
How difficult will it be to beat Pecco?
“Ducati has the best package, but it must also be said that he is the fastest rider, but we want to make life difficult for him”
On the current picture of MotoGP…
A change was needed, I think our sport is one of the most beautiful and perhaps a change was needed
