Some stories from the Vertigo Comics label could be told in the new DCU according to James Gunn
James Gunn hints that he could adapt some stories published under the imprint DC Comics Vertigo for your DCU. A fan asked the head of DC Studios on Twitter if in addition to Swamp Thing other Vertigo characters will appear in his new DC Universe, and Gunn responded as follows: “Swamp Thing was in the Vertigo comics, but he was actually a DC character. That being said, we’re dealing with a couple of potential things with Vertigo Comics that I really loved.”
Swamp Thing was in Vertigo comics, but he was really a DC character. That said, we’re dealing with a couple potential things with Vertigo – comics that I really adored.

James Gunn didn’t offer any details on which Vertigo characters might be coming to his DCU. The label was created in 1993 to publish stories with more adult content, since Vertigo comics featured images that did not conform to DC’s editorial linesuch as nudity, drug use, and graphic violence. The label ceased to exist in 2020 and it could be said that it was replaced by DC Black Label.
Gunn announced his project schedule in January 2023, showing that a Swamp Thing movie will be part of Chapter 1 of the DCU. However, Gunn has already revealed that there are still many movies and series to be announced.
