Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas also responded regarding the statue of the Virgin Mary in Kulon Progo, Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) which was covered with a tarpaulin.
Yaqut explained that the statue of the Virgin Mary was closed by the owner of the house.
“It’s been clarified, that’s it. The issue of the statue of the Virgin Mary that covers the one that owns it,” said Gus Yaqut at the State Palace, Jakarta, Friday (24/3/2023).
The head of GP Ansor explained that the closure of the statue of the Virgin Mary was closed by the owner because it did not go through a procedural process when it was erected. He also denied that the closure of the statue of the Virgin Mary was carried out because of a protest from one of the mass organizations.

“Closing it because it was established also did not go through a procedure, a process that must be passed, taken, and consciously after conducting deliberations that have their own closing, so they are not residents,” said Yaqut.
Furthermore, Yaqut invites people to respect each other in religious life. He also reminded the public to realize that everyone has rights that are limited by the rights of others.
“Yes, everyone respects each other, the best thing is to live in mutual respect. Realize that we all have rights and our rights are limited by the rights of others,” he said.
Previously, a video circulated of the statue of the Virgin Mary being installed in the Sasana Adhi Rasa St. Yacobus Prayer House, Kulon Progo Regency covered with a blue tarpaulin.
The closing of this statue went viral on social media. The reason is that the closure of the statue was said to have been carried out by the police due to pressure from mass organizations.
