This week, Harvey Smith, co-founder of Arkane Studios, dropped a bombshell by revealing that Redfall, the studio’s next release and which is exclusive to Xbox Series X|S on consoles, was in development for PlayStation 5. In response to these words , a Microsoft spokesperson noted that they have never taken a game away from PlayStation.
In a recent interview, Smith claimed that Redfall was originally in development for PS5 alongside Xbox Series X/S and PC, but that the PlayStation 5 version was canceled as Microsoft wanted to focus on “Xbox, PC and Game Pass.”

In a statement it sent to GameSpot, Microsoft said it “has not removed any PlayStation games.” Of course, at no time does he deny Smith’s statements or deny that Redfall was in development for PlayStation 5 at some point.
“We have not retired any PlayStation games. In fact, we have expanded our footprint with games that we have released on Sony PlayStation since our acquisition of ZeniMax, and the first 2 games that we released after the purchase [DEATHLOOP y Ghostwire: Tokyo] They were exclusive to PlayStation 5,” a Microsoft spokesperson said.

Later, the Microsoft spokesman gave Minecraft, an Xbox-owned franchise that has remained multiplatform, as an example. He also reminded that ZeniMax games like Fallout 76 and The Elder Scrolls Online remain on PlayStation with all their recent updates.
“We have said from the beginning that future decisions on whether to distribute ZeniMax games for other consoles will be made on a case-by-case basis,” the spokesperson added.
