Paris Saint-Germain has avoided another setback. Three days after being eliminated by Bayern Munich in the round of 16 of the Champions League, the French top club won the national competition with difficulty at Stade Brest: 1-2.
Kylian Mbappé scored the winning goal in stoppage time for PSG, which will no longer have access to Neymar, who has had surgery on his ankle, for the rest of this season.
Mbappé also led in the opening goal before the break. The Dutch goalkeeper Marco Bizot was unable to process a long shot from the attacker in the 37th minute. The Spaniard Carlos Soler scored from the rebound, via the bottom of the crossbar: 0-1.
Stade Brest was the underlying party, but still equalized shortly before the break. Striker Franck Honorat was accurate after a counter: 1-1.
Paris Saint-Germain played less convincing after the break. Thanks to star player Mbappé, coach Christophe Galtier’s team still managed to win. The leader is 11 points ahead of number 2 Olympique Marseille, which will play against Strasbourg on Sunday.
