Even though it’s supposed to hit stores this fall, we really don’t know much about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the sequel to the hit video game based on the spider-superhero. While we will have to wait longer for new information, a developer from Insomniac Games shed light on some new technology that may have been implemented in this game.
During a live stream on Twitch, Insomniac Games programmer Elan Ruskin revealed that both Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Wolverine will have new dialogue technology that he called “very cool.” Unfortunately, he was cautious and refrained from revealing more details about it.

Will Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine use AI?
As expected, the developer’s statements caused the community to come up with all sorts of theories. Some gamers believe that the studio’s upcoming games will have multiple dialogue options like they do in RPG titles or that the conversations will change if we play as Peter Parker or Miles Morales.
However, a section of the community believes that the developers at Insomniac Games used ChatGPT to create AI-generated dialogue, possibly in interactions with NPCs in the open world. While none of this is confirmed, fans have already expressed their excitement and believe that this technology will take the experience to another level.

“I think AI like ChatGPT has the potential to revolutionize games like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls where based on how you play and interact with characters in the game it changes the way NPCs behave towards you, creating an experience of unique game for each player”, sentenced a player on reddit.
However, unsurprisingly, some fans are skeptical that artificial intelligence will detract from the experience and point out that it is a danger to voice actors and writers. It is no secret to anyone that the implementation of this technology is very controversial, and it seems that it will still cause conflicting options in the coming months and years among fans and the developers themselves.
Either way, it’s important to reiterate once again that it’s a mystery whether both Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Wolverine will employ AI in their dialogue. We’ll have to wait to find out.
