The Thunderbolts movie will have a big change, since Marvel was not convinced by the story.
For some time it was confirmed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe will present a very particular team called Thunderbolts. The director in charge is Jake Schreier, while the script was for Eric Pearson responsible for Black Widow (2021), Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and the Agent Carter series. So it seemed like the perfect manager, but now he’s been replaced by Lee Sung Jin.
Probably this change will have been a wish of the director, since both have worked together on the series Bronca that will be released soon on Netflix.
This is how Lee Sung Jin himself explains it in Variety.
“I am rewriting Thunderbolts. It’s the whole team again. Jake asked me if he would come on board. I probably should have taken a break, but there are so many exciting themes and things about the movie that I couldn’t help but accept.”
“It’s really an honor to be a part of Marvel, but it’s very different. One, it’s not my project, it’s Jake’s. It is such a scope and scale that the type of writing is very different. At the same time, the process feels the same, I still talk to Jake every day. I think once you find the team of people you love and trust and who are so talented, you do everything you can to keep working with them.”
Will this change for the better? What is clear is that Eric Pearson had a lot of experience with superhero movies, so let’s hope that Lee Sung Jin’s new story will surpass what they had already prepared.
The best will be the distribution.
