Marvel has announced the new Avengers and it is the strangest formation in its history. The third annual Hellfire Club gala that is part of the X-Men mythology will mark the debut of a new superhero team called the Uncanny Avengers. What a surprise!
Announced at Marvel Unlimited’s X-Men: 60 Uncanny Years Live Virtual Event, the X-Men Hellfire Club’s upcoming gala will lead to a new series titled Uncanny Avengers. It will be created by writer Gerry Duggan and artist Javier Garrón.
Set around the upcoming event called “Fall of X”, Uncanny Avengers will bring together the following lineup of the new avengers. Take note because it is the strangest formation of the great Marvel heroes that is remembered:
Captain America (Steve Rogers) Rogue Deadpool Quicksilver Psylocke Penance
What can we expect from Uncanny Avengers at Marvel?
This all-new Avengers team will face off against a deadly and revolutionary version of Captain Krakoa. The Marvel villain has assembled his own team of assassins and has begun attacking the governments of the United States and Krakoa in an attempt to start a new world war. Not bad to start as a threat!
“Everything we’ve been working towards in our third act will come to a head this summer,” Gerry Duggan promised. “The Uncanny Avengers have existed to provide an example of unity between humanity and mutants, and they will have to work harder at that now that relationships and friendships have frayed in the events of the Fall of X.”
This “Fall of X” is going to be one of the most important events of the recent era of mutants. Not just because of the obvious X-Men’s connection to the Avengersbut because it will probably end one of the most ambitious and applauded story arcs in modern Marvel history.
We are obviously talking about everything that Jonathan Hickman started a few years ago with “Dynasty of X” and “Powers of X”. We will see what is the climax that they have prepared for us in Marvel Comics, but of course it must be too big to live up to those two stories that will mark a before and after in mutant mythology.
