A 51-year-old man from Uithoorn in Noord-Holland is detained on suspicion of possible involvement in the woman’s death. The police have indications that she was killed.
On Friday, the police shared a photo of the woman’s face to determine her identity. It shows that the woman had many red and bruises on her face. Due to the many tips that came in, it became clear that it concerns a 45-year-old woman from Apeldoorn.
The police immediately started an investigation in the woman’s home in Apeldoorn. This morning a suspect was arrested in a house in Rhenen; he will be questioned in the coming days. The house is being examined.
Police would not say whether the suspect and victim knew each other. But according to De Stentor newspaper, the suspect is the ex-boyfriend of the victim.
Ex boyfriend
The newspaper had contact with the ex-boyfriend last weekend. In response to questions from the newspaper, he said via text message that he would like to talk, but that he was ‘currently at a loss’. He said he was “torn” with grief and did not know how to bear this loss.
He stated that he did not know what happened. The man called his ex ‘a closed person’ and he said he hadn’t gotten a hold of her for a few days.
