France, Macron takes off his luxury watch during the interview | VIDEO
A video has gone viral on social media showing the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, taking off his watch during a live TV interview.
During a face-to-face, broadcast from the Elysee and during which the French president spoke about the disputed pension reform and the sacrifices of citizens, Macron wore a watch on his wrist which he slammed on the table making a noise.
Immediately afterwards, the president is seen with his hands under the table with his arms which then reappear without the watch on his wrist.
“When it comes to minimum wages – ha written on Twitter the deputy of La France Insoumise, Clémence Guetté – here is the president takes off his beautiful luxury watch, under the table”.
The video quickly went viral, while some users claimed that the watch worn by Macron was even worth 80,000 euros.
“Contrary to what was said on social networks, the president did not take off his watch to hide it, but because he had just hit it hard against the table,” sources close to Macron specified on France Info radio.
As for the watch, the president’s entourage specifies that it is a Bell & Ross BRV192 customized with the insignia of the Presidency of the Republic, sold for around 2,000 euros. “She’s been wearing it every day for over a year and a half,” the source added.
