BEIJING – Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko underlined the importance of relations with China for the future of his country.
Lukashenko said that in pursuit of closer ties, no country seeks to undermine the other.
The comments were made on Wednesday (1/3/2023) during a three-day trip to China.
“We wish you success, which is pragmatic for us, because if China is strong, Belarus will be strong and will develop,” the Belarusian leader told Chinese Premier Li Keqiang at a meeting in Beijing.
“We saw the situation on the international stage. And we applaud you for the thoughtful progress you’ve made. You go your way, don’t belittle anyone, and don’t get triggered by the thorns that people in China are pointing at,” Lukashenko said.

He added, “This is completely in line with the spirit and character of the Chinese people.”
“Minsk and Beijing have no forbidden directives for cooperation and never intended to… work against third countries, whoever they are,” Lukashenko stressed.
He boasted that Belarusian-China bilateral trade was set to reach USD 6 billion per year.
He said the aim of his three-day visit was to “detect new horizons” in relations between the two countries.
