In the podcast 30 Minuten Rauw, Loiza opens up about her past. The presenter is transgender and has sometimes had to deal with bullying in Driel, where she grows up. “It was always good at primary school. But with the children from the village it was a bit unknown, unloved.”
She knows how to deal with it. “At a certain point you also become a bit harder. I also got over it easily.” Still, it hurts when people bully you. “It always hits you at some point, so I can’t say, ‘It never interested me.'”
Now that Loiza and the children from her village are many years older, the former bullies have gained more respect. “It’s funny. I was with my friend Jelle in Driel with carnival. And then I said: ‘Look, so and so bullied me so hard.’ But a lot of those people have apologized. So that’s really, really cool. After a few years, I came to the village and I was at a party one time and someone said, ‘Listen, we really didn’t play nice back in the day and I’m sorry.'”
