The restriction on naturalized players arose after Erick Thohir’s football workshop with representatives of League 1 and League 2 clubs on Saturday (4/3/2023).

In addition to restrictions on naturalized players, PSSI also indicated a change in the name and format of the competition to be held next season.

The new format will be applied to competitions in League 1 and League 2, with a Round Robin system with a mini-tournament in the Top Four Team Final Series.
Meanwhile, the restrictions on naturalized players for League 1 clubs, where contestants are only allowed to use one naturalized player.
This discourse is certainly an alarm for the 18 League 1 contestants, especially teams with more than one naturalized player.
Since the naturalization player program was implemented, not only the national team has benefited but also the country’s football clubs.
However, foreign players must have capital in the form of staying in Indonesia for five consecutive years.
