Lamborghini had plans to show the successor to the Aventador tonight with great fanfare. However, that Revuelto seemed to be so wealthy that he is already speeding up the internet. And once online… there’s no going back of course.
What.an.engine
Let us immediately start with the key question; is there any downsizing in this Revuelto? The intro of course already gave away that this is not the case at all. Because although the electric revolution is slumbering around the corner, Lamborghini is driving another flagship with obscene V12 petrol here. That brand new naturally aspirated 6.5-liter block is already 831 hp and 725 Nm strong. Add to that two electric motors on the front axle and one between the gearbox and you arrive at a system power of 1,001 hp.
Thanks to its 3.8 kWh battery, the Revuelto is – funny enough – a hybrid like, say, a Toyota Prius. Make no mistake, however, with 1,001 horsepower, this Revuelto is a lot more potent. Via the brand new 8-speed automatic transmission with double clutch that now hangs behind the engine and four-wheel drive, the sprint to one hundred is done in 2.5 seconds. You can reach 200 km/h in just 7 seconds. Top speed? 350 km/h. Please! Oh yes, to please the eco-fans, let’s just say that you have to go fully electric for at least 10 kilometers… downhill.
organic
Visually, the Revuelto takes the Aventador as its starting point but throws a more organic sauce over it. In addition, Lamborghini seems more than ever devoted to its Y design language. Because from headlight, to bumper work, to accent lines, you come across Ypsilon-shaped details everywhere. Under the skin, this Revuelto rolls on a completely new carbon fiber chassis. So you should not see this as a serious facelift of the Aventador.
The design features are also functional, by the way. For example, the side blades behind the front wheels guide the air towards the intakes just in front of the rear wheels. The bump in the roof then directs air towards the active spoiler at the rear. The rear diffuser, which then drags the Revuelto against the tarmac. At high speeds, this Revuelto generates 66% more downforce than its predecessor. We already feel it in our kidneys.
Jet fighter
The inside also carries a new design language for Lamborghini. More elegant than ever with an ypsilon flowing from the center console over the dashboard. Lambo takes over the passenger screen from that other Italian brand with a prancing animal. In the center is an upright infotainment system, while the driver gets his own screen store of 12.3 inches.
The Italian brand mainly wants to give the feeling that you are crawling into a fighter plane. Or one with a round steering wheel with buttons for the 13 (!) Different driving modes. And oh yes, once you have to get out again, that still happens through gull-wing doors. As befits a Lamborghini flagship.
The first copies will find their way to customers at the end of this year. If they have been able to choose from the 400 different exterior and 70 interior colors, of course.
