Sofia closes in second place behind the Norwegian Lie, and is now impregnable in the specialty rankings
Sofia Goggia won the fourth downhill cup in her career. Only the Slovenian Ilka Stuhec was in the running to take it back, but now with only one downhill still to run – that of the Soldeu finals – even before setting off on the Kvitfjell downhill, the last one before the Soldeu finals, the advantage of Sofia was over 100 points (those are up for grabs for the win). She finally finished 29 cents behind the Norwegian Kajsa Lie (1’32”36) for the seventh podium of the season. This season Goggia won 5 out of 8 races, then two second places and a crash (in Cortina). “It was a season in which I dominated, despite her having missed the World Cup” Goggia told Rai microphones.

After the trophies won in 2017/18, 2020/21 and 2021/22, Goggia once again dominates the specialty rankings and hooks up with Michela Figini and Katja Seizinger. Better than her only Lindsey Vonn (8), Annemarie Moser-Proell (7) and Renate Goetschl (5).
The race

“I’m not so satisfied with my race – commented Goggia -. I don’t know if I didn’t do the top corner well due to the wind or today’s conditions. But I brought home the Cup, the goal is achieved. It’s the fourth in his career, the third in a row. Despite my discontinuity, I am continuous in my performance”.
Another excellent descent for Federica Brignone: she is seventh at 85/100 from Lie. “I’m very happy with how I skied in the technical part, the one that interests me the most for the super-G. In any case, I’m satisfied with my way of skiing, with how the speed is going”.
Elena Curtoni finished thirteenth at 1”13; fifteenth at 1”27 is Laura Pirovano, twenty-sixth at 2”03 Nicol Delago. The Austrian Huetter crashed without consequences, having beaten Elena Curtoni by just one cent yesterday.
