MOSCOW – Kremlin stated the ongoing confrontation between Russia and the West will last a long time. It is also related to Russia’s “Special Military Operations” in Ukraine.
“If you mean war in a broad context – confrontation with hostile countries, with unfriendly countries, the hybrid war they have unleashed with our country, then this is for a long time,” said a Kremlin spokesman. , Dmitry Peskov, as quoted from Anadolu Agency, Thursday (30/3/2023).
Since the war started last February, the West has provided Ukraine with unprecedented support. Western countries provided finance, weapons, and humanitarian aid.
In contrast, a number of Western powers have imposed harsh economic sanctions on Moscow, such as export controls, an oil embargo and caps on the price of Russian crude.
The spokesperson said the goal could be achieved through different means. But Ukraine has cut out the possibility of a political and diplomatic solution.
Commenting on the attitude towards “Special Military Operations” in Russia, Peskov said: “We are seeing an absolute consolidation of Russian society, and an unprecedented consolidation around the president, around the commander-in-chief, around the policies he is pursuing.”
Peskov also wished success for the Russian soldiers fighting in the frontline city of Bakhmut, Ukraine. He said that they showed “miracle heroism”.
According to Peskov, Russia’s main goal is to ensure its security in general and the safety of the inhabitants of the “new areas”. He was referring to four Ukrainian regions over which Moscow took control after last year’s “fake” referendum.
