SEOUL – Leader North Korea (Jewelry), Kim Jong-un , asked his country’s scientists to expand the production of weapons-grade nuclear materials and build more powerful weapons. That was the report by North Korea’s state media, KCNA.
Kim’s latest call comes ahead of the arrival of the United States Navy (US) aircraft carrier which is scheduled to arrive in South Korea (South Korea) on Tuesday. It is also a repeat of an earlier promise to increase nuclear weapons production “exponentially.”
North Korea’s official KCNA news agency reported that in a briefing with officials from its nuclear weapons institute, Kim Jong-un said that North Korea should be prepared to use its nuclear weapons anytime and anywhere.
“We should never be complacent with the work to consolidate the all-inclusive response posture of our nuclear force and should continue to strive to steadily strengthen the nuclear force,” Kim Jong-un was quoted as saying by KCNA, according to South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency. Al Jazeera, Tuesday (28/3/2023).
Kim Jong-un asked his officials to expand production of weapons-grade nuclear material with the foresight to implement the plan thoroughly, increasing the nuclear arsenal exponentially. He also told his officials to push to continue producing powerful nuclear weapons, KCNA reported.
North Korea last year declared itself an “irreversible” nuclear power and Kim Jong-un has recently called for an “exponential” increase in weapons production, including tactical nuclear weapons.
According to the KCNA report, Kim Jong-un was also briefed on an IT-based integrated nuclear weapons management system called Haekbangashoe, which means “nuclear trigger”.
“The system’s accuracy, reliability and safety were verified during the recent exercises simulating a nuclear counterattack,” KCNA added.
South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported that North Korean media had also released photos of Kim Jong-un inspecting what appeared to be a tactical nuclear warhead known as the Hwasan-31 for the first time.
