When you shoot an action movie, it’s inevitable that there will be accidents, preferably minor ones, on set. A chase, fall, blow… anything can cause a mishap, even if a thousand measures are taken to avoid it. If you’re filming a movie like John Wick 4, you’d better set up a field hospital.
Today is the premiere of the new film in the saga starring Keanu Reeves in which revenge takes a wild turn wherever John Wick sets foot.
The franchise has become a phenomenon in action cinema due to its fast-paced, beautifully choreographed sequences and where any hint of coddling the most brutal graphic violence dissipates in a gale of stabbings, shots, shots, and run-overs.
The cast of movies like John Wick 4 can attest to the fact that shooting this type of film is a tremendous challenge. Sometimes there are even accidents that can be serious, as Keanu Reeves has admitted in Comicbook.
There were two serious accidents on the set of John Wick 4
The actor has highlighted two incidents on the set of John Wick 4 in which two specialists had to be transferred to the hospital after suffering two separate mishaps: one with an open head and the other after suffering a car accident.
“In terms of accidents: I made a mistake once: I split a man’s head open. But other than that, oh, a guy got run over. He had to go to the hospital, but he was fine.”
The strange thing is that one movie as John Wick 4 has not had more serious mishaps, although we celebrate that it is so, both for the well-being of the Department as well as for what it implies of the good work of the whole team.
Chad Stahelskidirector of the John Wick films, was a specialist and knows how to deal with these types of scenes, something that translates into how he deals with filming.
These elaborate choreographies are always susceptible to accidents, as in the movies of Jackie Chanwhere there was more than one disagreement.
John Wick 4 has its premiere in Spain today, with Keanu Reeves delivering beatings on several continents faster than the food arrives when you order at home.
