Two weeks after Melissa Galindo accused Kalimba of sexual abuse, the singer confessed in an interview that, for a while, he was diagnosed with second degree bipolarity, condition that he has suffered for 25 years and that it is already being treated; However, he explained the way in which her disease lives, as he assures that it is deeply different from the prejudices that have been made of her.
The 40-year-old musician became Luisito Rey’s most recent guest on his YouTube channel, and although Kalimba and the youtuber talked about various topics, what attracted the most attention It was when the Mexican artist opened up and said that he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 25 that he began to suffer from it, a situation that he has already been treating clinically for a year.
“I am diagnosed bipolar”said the singer. Luisito questioned him: “-Really?” and Kalimba reiterated: “-Yes… I have bipolarity in the second degree.”
According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), type II bipolarity is a less severe version of this mood disorder, which can trigger hypomanic-type depressive episodes; However, it was the interpreter of “Tocando fondo” who explained to Rey the way in which this disease manifests itself, which he assured that it is conceived from an equivocal perspective.
“Being bipolar is not that, suddenly, you are good and suddenly bad, not even close”, clarified.
On the other hand, the former member of OV7 points out that those who suffer from it live their emotions in a “insane” way, overreaching the experience of each of their feelings, compared to people who do not suffer from it, since they do not know happiness but experience it is a kind of euphoria.
In his personal case, Kalimba said that he lived the moments of happiness with great euphoria, in the same way that he lived his sadness in a deep depression.
“Euphoric, literally, instead of being happy, I was euphoric, everything was wonderful, spectacular”, which motivated the musician to question why other people did not experience happiness the way he did.
“How can others not see how incredible this is? (And) instead of being sad, he was depressed”, a situation that varied – he explained – his neural changes.
