“Merlina” was released in November on Netflix and since then became one of the most viewed content on the platform. Tim Burton’s series managed to establish itself as the second most watched English-speaking series in the history of the streaming giant, behind “Stranger Things”.
For six consecutive weeks, “Merlina” was the most reproduced worldwide, broke Nielsen audience records in the United States and also increased his popularity on TikTok, since Jenna Ortega’s dance in the series became a fun challenge.

What not many know, perhaps, is that the 20-year-old actress refused to be a part of the series at first. According to information collected by “The Times” of the United Kingdom, through an interview with the artist with Puerto Rican origins, the thought that she had in her head was translated into the fact that doing a lot of television could overshadow other jobs.
Ortega said for the aforementioned medium: “I had done so much television in my life, all I ever wanted to do is film (…) I was afraid that if I signed up for another television show it might prevent me from doing other jobs that I really wanted and cared about”. The star of “Scream VI” can be sure of one thing: “Merlina” has catapulted her career and its fans are already looking forward to the second season of the Netflix hit.
