While you spend an annual Easter brunch with the in-laws, Jeep celebrates the holiday in a completely different way. Jeep is already organizing the Easter Jeep Safari for the 57th time. This meeting is held on the rugged terrain of Moab. You know that not only from a shooting game, but is also a desert-like nature reserve in the state of Utah.
The rugged terrain is no coincidence. Every year, Jeep presents various concepts that are suitable for the better off-road work. With these concept versions, the company mainly wants to show what Jeep is capable of. Do not expect production models of these cars, but various parts are for sale. Below we list the concepts for Easter Jeep Safari.
Jeep Wrangler Magneto 3.0 Concept
This is the third time the Magneto concept has made an appearance on the Moab. Since 2021, Jeep has added some minor adjustments every year. Likewise this year. The Jeep electric concept has two power settings. In standard, the electric motor produces 289 hp and 370 Nm. At ‘Maximum’ the power grows to 650 hp. The tractive force is then 1,220 Nm.
Thanks to the improved engine, the Magneto is also a lot more efficient, which in turn leads to a larger range. There’s even an extra-aggressive regeneration mode where you only have to drive with one pedal when going downhill.
It sits on massive 40-inch off-road tires wrapped around 20-inch rims. You will soon find out that Jeep is not averse to some big wheels. The suspension has also been raised by another seven centimeters. Oh, by the way, the color scheme is a reference to the previous versions of the concept.
Jeep Scrambler 392 Concept
For those in the know, this 392 is a nod to the CJ-8 generation of the 1981 Scrambler. This car started life simply as a four-door Wrangler. He has lost the doors and also the back seat. The number 392 refers to the hefty 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine that this special off-roader has.
This eight-cylinder produces 470 hp and 637 Nm. But that’s not the main theme of the Scrambler. The concept is there to see how light a Jeep can be without losing its off-road skills. That’s why it consists largely of carbon fiber, which is both strong and light. There is also an air suspension that could lift almost 14 centimeters. This concept also has 40-inch tires and 20-inch wheels.
1978 Jeep Cherokee 4xe Concept
For this restomod, Jeep bought a 1978 Cherokee on Craigslist, a kind of American Marketplace, but just a bit more shabby. At the time of purchase, there is little left of the car, but Jeep solves that. They throw parts from last year’s Wrangler Rubicon at it, including the 4xe’s hybrid powertrain. It has two electric motors and a 2.0-liter turbo engine.
However, there is enough left over from the seventies, just look at the color scheme and the interior. A nice detail is the retro version of the 4xe badge and there is graffiti on the roof. Furthermore, the rear seats have been removed for a predictable reason for the Safari: more luggage space for an extra wheel.
Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe Concept
If one of the seven concepts for 2023 can be described as ‘style over substance’, it is this one. Again there are technical upgrades, such as the special air suspension, 37-inch tires and 17-inch, but that’s not what this concept is about. This version is usually there to make a visual statement. And it sure does, right?
They call the purple color Tuscadero. According to Jeep, the response to the color that was available in limited edition on the 2021 Wrangler was ‘overwhelmingly positive’. With this concept, Jeep is once again betting on this purple color. There are also accents in shiny black and the interior is mainly black leather.
Grand Wagoneer Overland Concept
Yes, Jeep also presents a camper. This concept is mainly made for comfort and adventure. We’ll skip the 3.0-liter ‘Hurricane’ twin-turbo engine with 510 hp and 678 Nm of torque and the 25-inch off-road tires and talk about that roof tent.
It’s called the RedTail Overland Skyloft (sounds great already) and it’s made of carbon fiber. You could unfold it by hand within ten seconds. Once in camping position, you can take a nap with two people or enjoy the nature around you. Solar panels generate energy for lighting during the day. By the way, you can climb into it through the inside and outside of the car.
Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe Departure Concept
This Wrangler gets 37-inch off-road tires with 17-inch rims. The shock absorbers raise the car 5 centimeters and come from Bilstein. That front grille? It can bend over as a bench when you have a break and take the time to take in the surroundings. For in the dark there are extra LED lights on top of the car and there is extra lighting on every corner.
One last trick? The holder on the back that supports the rear wheel has two positions. As it stands here, it holds the wheel inboard. It can also pop it out to give you more luggage space in the back.
Jeep Gladiator Rubicon Sideburn Concept
At the front of this Gladiator is a 3.6-liter V6 engine. It also gets the same off-roading toys as the Departure Concept – so a lift kit and shocks from Bilstein – and 17-inch wheels with 37-inch tires on it. By the way, they call this car the Sideburn, which means sideburn.
This concept is mainly grafted on tricks. At the rear left and right of the car you will find a recess for a small jerry can with which you can transport liquids. Above the spare wheel is a shelf for extra boxes and there is a bar that makes it easier to get into the back. The floor covering has also been replaced by vinyl and there are drains so that you can hose the car clean from the inside.
