Irma Serrano, one of the most controversial and well-known actresses, singers and politicians in Mexican culture, died this Wednesday, March 1 at the age of 89, according to a statement shared by the National Association of Interpreters of Mexico.

Who was Irma Serrano?
Born on December 9, 1933, in Chiapas, Irma Serrano achieved fame in the 1960s, initially for being a regional music singer. She was a cousin of the writer Rosario Castellanos, and It is said that in her youth she posed nude for Diego Rivera.
Years later, after the success achieved in her career as a singer “La Tigresa” He ventured into Mexican cinema, in the controversial “ficheras” films, where he performed nude scenes and played controversial characters for his time. Some of his most remembered roles are in the films “Gabino Barreda”, “Lola la Trailera”, “La Martina”, and “Santo contra la Tigresa”, among many others.
At the end of the 1990s, he entered the field of politics, where he held a position in the Mexican Senate, and becoming also deputy of Chiapas.
Among her many controversies, Irma Serrano was a lover of antiques, and it is said that she even managed to get the bed where Empress Carlota of Mexico herself slept. In her autobiography, “La Tigresa” She confessed that she was a lover of former President Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, and that she was later spied on by the Mexican government.
