ROME, MARCH 12 – Iran and the United States have reached “an agreement on the exchange of prisoners in recent days and if all goes well on the American side, the exchange of prisoners will take place in a short time”, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said today. A document had been signed indirectly between the two parties, but the ground is now being prepared, said the minister, quoted by the Irna news agency, adding that on the Iranian side “everything is ready and the Americans are also carrying out the last technical coordination” At least three people with dual Iranian-US citizenship are detained in Iran, while he claims that dozens of Iranian citizens are detained in the United States on charges of “deflecting US sanctions” imposed on Iran. The foreign minister went on to say that Tehran and Washington have also maintained the exchange of messages on nuclear talks and the lifting of sanctions. “It is important that Tehran removes concerns about the baseless allegation — Iran’s enrichment of uranium up to 84%#8212; It’s one of our red lines,” he added.
