BERLIN – German investigators found hair on clothing left on a cruise ship suspected of being linked to the attack on the Nord Stream pipeline last September.
German authorities have sent these materials for DNA analysis, according to media reports.
“The source did not provide details on whether the items on board belonged to unidentified pro-Ukrainian individuals who were allegedly involved in the attack,” German media said.
On Monday, reports revealed details regarding a cruise ship allegedly “linked” to sabotage on the Nord Stream pipeline.
A Bavarian Cruiser 50 luxury yacht named Andromeda was leased by an unidentified person, with the email used for the lease suggesting links to Ukraine, according to the report.
Earlier this month, another German media source reported investigators had identified the vessel involved in the Nord Stream sabotage, with a trail leading to a Ukrainian-owned company.
“Operations at sea were carried out by a team of six, believed to consist of five men and one woman,” the report said.
“Investigations recovered a number of items earlier in the year, including an icebreaker T-shirt and a Von Lamezan hat with hair on it,” the report said, citing a search warrant and a list of items seized during the cruise ship search.
The materials were analyzed in a laboratory, according to the paper.
