The Mexican Stock Market (BMV) won a Tuesday 0.68% in its main indicator, until reaching 53 thousand 209.1 unitsbut during the day some stations in the financial sector registered losses.
“The capital market closed the session with mixed results among the main stock market indices in the world,” explained the director of Economic and Financial Analysis at Banco Base, Gabriela Siller.
In Mexico, he pointed out, the Price and Quotation Index (IPC)the main indicator of the BMV, “achieved a gain of 0.68%, highlighting the broadcaster Peñoles Industries (+5.08%) before the increase in the prices of ‘commodities’ (raw materials that are commercialized in the financial market).
He also highlighted that “the financial sector continued to record losses, with Banorte (-0.77%) being the station that lost the most in the session although they also fell BanBajio (-0.38%) y Bath region (-0.18%).
With the advance of this day, the IPC registers a gain of 9.79% so far this year and is located at a -6.76% from its all-time high of 56 thousand 536.68 pointsreached on April 1, 2022.
In the session, the peso appreciated a 0.54% against the dollar, when trading at 18.22 units per greenbackafter being valued at 18.32 in the previous day, according to data from the Bank of Mexico.
The IPC closed the session in 53 thousand 209.1 unitswith a profit of 357.68 points and a positive variation of the 0.68% compared to the previous day.
The volume traded in the market reached 241 million titles for an amount of 27,241 million pesosaccording to data from Bank of Mexico.
Of the 551 firms that listed on this day, 201 ended with their prices rising, 324 had losses and 26 closed without changes.
The titles with the greatest upward variation were from the maritime transporter TMM Group (TMM A), with 8.86%; the mining company Industrias Peñoles (PEÑOLES), with 5.08%and the media company TV Azteca (AZTECA CPO), with 3.82%.
In contrast, the largest downward variations were from the homebuilder Desarrolladora Homex (HOMEX), con -9.09%; the oil company Vista Oil & Gas (VIEW A), with -2.86%and the marketer of household products Grupo Famsa (GFAMSA A), with -2.74%.
In the day, the four sectors won, led by the industrial (1.19%)followed by materials (1.05%)the one of frequent consumption (0.38%) and the financial (0.37%).
