What has Indiana Jones 5 prepared? The latest film in the saga with Harrison Ford is the most ambitious of all, and its premiere proves it.
Indiana Jones 5 has a very unexpected surprise. Lucasfilm could travel to France to premiere the latest installment in the saga of its famous archaeologist and adventurer. As reported by Deadline, Disney is “in talks” with the Cannes Film Festival to host the world premiere of The Dial of Fate, which would screen the long-awaited sequel more than a month before it hits theaters in June.
Lucasfilm’s franchise is already tied to Cannes. In 2008, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull premiered at the festival. And while reactions to the film were mixed among longtime fans, it received a four-minute standing ovation. Not the longest in the festival’s history (that honor goes to Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth, which ran for 22 minutes in 2006), but no mean feat. Let’s hope that Indiana Jones 5 also receives a similar ovation and is liked more by the viewers.
The studio has blind faith in this movie.

Obviously, no deal has been closed yet. But, apparently, the film has been formally invited to participate in this year’s festivities. If everything goes well, Indiana Jones 5 will be shown on the second or third day of the contest, which will be held from May 16 to 27. The report also notes that Disney’s willingness to release the film so early indicates great confidence in the final version.
Deadline does not clarify if Indiana Jones 5 will compete with other films in the festival. But it seems unlikely. Even so, this type of films can cause a great impact in the contest. Last year, Cannes hosted the premiere of Top Gun: Maverick, which became one of the most critically acclaimed and highest-grossing films of 2022. The organizers also presented Tom Cruise with an honorary Palme d’Or, the highest award that grant the festival.
