The new mini speaker is an addition to the Vappeby line. In it, the Swedish retail chain previously released an outdoor lamp with a speaker and a speaker for children.
The waterproof bluetooth speaker will cost about 15 euros. According to IKEA, the speaker can ‘really be used anywhere’. The gadget is dust and water resistant with the IP67 rating and can be submerged in water for up to 30 minutes, according to IKEA.
The speaker is available in yellow, black or red and has a silicone coating. The device comes with a cord so that it can easily be hung in the shower. The battery life is 80 hours at 50 percent volume.
If two of these speakers are linked together, a stereo pair can be made. There is no USB-C cable for charging, but many consumers already have it at home. The new Vappeby speaker is available from April.
IKEA now has a whole series of speakers, with several Sonos speakers in the Symfonisk series in addition to the Vappeby line.
