This Huawei Watch Ultimate does not have the usual materials. The watch case is built in zirconium-based liquid metal. It is the first time that this material has been used in a smart watch. The promise of zirconium is its greater resistance compared to titanium, both to corrosion and to any impact. Specifically, Huawei claims that Zirconium-based liquid metal is 4.5 times stronger than stainless steel and titanium alloys.
AMOLED type LTPO, zirconium, hydrogenated nitrile strap… Huawei wants the best of the best in its new smart watch
The screen is AMOLED, type LTPO, with 1.5 inches and covered by sapphire crystal. The look is more similar to a traditional watch than a smartwatch, and even some of the “analog” dials have been taken care of to give this aesthetic. The bezel doesn’t fall short either, built in micro-crystalline nano ceramics. It is specially designed so that cyclists, climbers and other sports do not end up with a scratched bezel.
As for the strap, it is made of hydrogenated nitrile rubber (HNBR). It is a more tensile-resistant material than the classic fluoroelastomer, in addition to being somewhat lighter and withstanding extreme temperatures better.
The watch has a total of three buttons: function button, rotating crown, and an assist button. The crown allows us to navigate through apps and the system, the function button can be customized to taste, and the assistance button allows access to Expedition mode, reset depth in dive modes and more.
To the top of functions
This watch, in addition to the classic functions of measuring steps, pulse, blood oxygen and others, this watch wants to compete with the Apple Watch Ultra in something very clear: diving. The Huawei Watch Ultra is capable of withstanding dives up to 100 meters, more than double the 40 meters that the Apple Watch Ultra allows. It is thus capable of going beyond recreational diving, allowing technical diving dives.
The watch has four diving modes, and measures all the data related to the dive. This is one of the points in which Huawei wants to lead, allowing more functions than Apple within its modes. Along with this diving mode, the star is also the explore mode. This mode is designed for outdoor sports, measuring average speed, height, being able to add markers, kilometers traveled, altitude… A mode with a sphere completely adapted to long walks and explorations.
There is no lack of a custom night mode in black and orange (inspired by its main rival) that allows both saving energy and correctly displaying the clock screen in low light environments.
In addition to all this arsenal, allows electrocardiograms, as well as detect blood pressure through pulse patterns. Its battery promises to last between 14 and 8 days, depending on use. It is compatible with both iOS and Android, and represents one of the biggest bets we have seen in the field of smart watches.
Versions and price of the Huawei Watch Ultimate
This watch is sold in two versions. The first of these is the Voyage Blue, specially designed for divers at the design level. The second edition is the Expedition Black, obsidian in color and with a slightly raised bezel above the main dial. We do not yet know the price of this watch. We will update this post when the information is available.
