Denmark started qualifying for the European Championship in 2024 with a win over Finland. It became 3-1 in stadium Parken in Copenhagen. Man of the match was the only 20-year-old striker Rasmus Højlund. He made all Danish goals for the team of national coach Kasper Hjulmand.
The Atalanta player had not scored in the Danish national team until Thursday, but immediately produced an unadulterated hat trick against the Finns. He opened the scoring for the home side after 20 minutes and made two more towards the end of the game. Those goals were welcome, because Finland had reached the same level at the beginning of the second half thanks to a hit by FC Groningen player Oliver Antman.
