What can we expect from Pennywise? HBO’s plans are much more ambitious than we thought with IT, the famous Stephen King story.
HBO has a bombshell about the IT saga. The Pennywise actor, Bill Skarsgard, has revealed if he will participate in the upcoming prequel to the original series on the streaming platform. A series called Welcome to Derry. Bill Skarsgard terrified audiences in both movie episodes as he portrayed the extra-dimensional shapeshifter who terrorizes the children of Derry, Maine every 27 years.
Pennywise was originally created by Stephen King in his 1986 horror novel. The John Wick 4 villain is the only actor to have played the character recently, having taken over from Tim Curry in 1990.
The Pennywise series will address the origins of Derry
During an interview with Jake’s Takes, Bill Skarsgard has revealed if he will appear as the clown Pennywise in the IT prequel series planned for HBO Max. Aside from the working title, Welcome to Derry, not much is known about the series that Max commissioned last February. In essence, it will be another early story from the fictional city of Derry. A terrifying and bloody origin story.
Warner Bros. Pictures
“We’ll see what they come up with and what they do with it,” said the Pennywise actor in the IT saga. But will Bill Skarsgard be part of the HBO series? This is what the actor said. “I, for now, am not involved in it. And if someone else manages to do it, my advice would be: do it your way, make it your own, have fun with it, you know what I mean? What I found so pleasurable about that character was how incredibly abstract he was.” So it doesn’t close the door on another actor playing Pennywise on the TV series. We will see what ends up happening, but hopefully they can count on him.
