PDI Perjuangan Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said that the main aspiration of the Indonesian nation is to produce a reliable football team, not to become event organizers (EO).
“Our main goal is how we produce an existing football team, not to become EO,” Hasto told reporters at Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, Thursday.
Hasto said that the PDI Perjuangan realized how hard it was to cancel the holding of the U-20 World Cup in Indonesia for the national team who had trained and prepared themselves.
However, said Hasto, there will be no great players without physical and mental guidance.

He believes this incident will be a lesson that unites the spirit together to form a better national team.
According to Hasto, the cancellation of Indonesia becoming the host for the U-20 World Cup will also never diminish the dreams of the nation’s children in forming a reliable team.
“This will unite our spirit, about the dreams of the nation’s children that will never fade because we are not the host of the U-20,” said Hasto.
As is known, FIFA decided to remove Indonesia from host status for the 2023 U-20 World Cup on Wednesday (29/3) evening.
FIFA’s announcement came after a wave of rejections by a number of regional heads of the Israeli U-20 national team to appear at the U-20/2023 World Cup in Indonesia.

The revocation of host status practically made Indonesia ineligible to appear at the U-20/2023 World Cup because it failed to obtain a ticket via the regular qualifying route after being unable to reach the last four of the U-20/2023 Asian Cup.
Deputy chairman of PSSI Zainudin Amali met with the U-20 national team players, one day after FIFA canceled Indonesia’s hosting of the U-20 World Cup which was supposed to take place at the end of next May.
On that occasion, Zainudin tried to cheer up the players and keep their spirits down after the bitter decision from FIFA which was announced on Wednesday (29/3) evening.
“I can feel what my children are feeling. You have tried to show your best performance, and carried out the exercises according to the instructions of the head coach of STY (Shin Tae-Yong) and the coaching team, you have followed all of them. With one hope, you can play in the Cup The world,” said Zainudin in Jakarta, Thursday.
Zainudin also stated that he hoped coach Shin Tae-Yong and his team members and players would be able to remain calm, and await the arrival of General Chair Erick Thohir to consider the next steps.
