What happened to Luna’s actress in Harry Potter? JK Rowling’s defense of her has complicated things for her on social media.
Harry Potter fans have canceled Luna for defending JK Rowling. The actress of the magical saga Evanna Lynch has had to face the reactions of the fans after defending the creator of the franchise for the controversial position of the author on the rights of transsexuals.
In an interview with The Telegraph in February, Evanna Lynch opened up once again about her feelings towards JK Rowling and transgender issues. “I feel sorry for both sides of the argument,” said the Luna actress in Harry Potter. “I know what it was like to be a teenager who hated my body so much that she wanted to crawl out of my skin. So I feel great compassion for trans people and I don’t want to add more pain to their lives.” Of the writer of the magical saga, however, she said it was “important” that the author has been “amplifying the voices of detrans.”

damn luna lovegood stans lost today, evanna lynch really had to go and say some bullshit
Well, we can strike Evanna Lynch off the ally list. The time for giving Rowling any grace is long past and anything other than condemnation of the real harms she’s doing to trans people/the queer community in general means you don’t stand with us. Evanna Lynch, who played Luna Lovegood in the last four Harry Potter movies, had already come to the defense of JK Rowling in the past. Specifically in 2020, when the author spoke about her position regarding the rights of trans people. Calling herself a “friend and fan” of Rowling at the time, Lynch tweeted that while she did not approve of the author’s online comments, she “can’t get over how generous and caring she is” the writer. Later, the actress decided to delete her Twitter account due to the negative reactions she received.
In the recent interview, the actress of Luna Lovegood explained his previous comments about the topic. “I had this impulse to say, ‘Let’s all stop talking about it,’ and I think I’m probably a little bit braver now when it comes to having uncomfortable conversations,” the Harry Potter actress said. Evanna Lynch added that she believed she had always been in JK Rowling’s character to “advocate for the most vulnerable members of society. The problem is that there is a disagreement about who is the most vulnerable”.
