In a few months The Little Mermaid, the new movie of real image that adapts one of the most popular Disney classics.
As everyone knows, the plot of The Little Mermaid follows the story of Ariel, the youngest of King Triton’s mermaid daughters who is fascinated by the surface world.
Falling head over heels for handsome Prince Eric, Ariel makes a pact with the wicked witch Ursula, who offers to turn her into a human in exchange for her beautiful voice..
However, the tape offers a more updated version of the animated classic, whose main actress, Halle Baileyhas praised Disney for it.
In a recent interview (via Variety), Bailey commented that this new movie will give a more contemporary twist on the classic story and now Ariel won’t go to the surface “just because of a guy”.
“I’m very excited about my version of the movie because we’ve definitely changed that perspective that she only wants to leave the ocean for a guy. It’s so much bigger than that. It’s about herself, her purpose, her freedom, her life and what you want
As women we are incredible, we are independent, we are modern, we are everything and we are above. AND glad disney is updating some of those themes“said the interpreter.
The new Disney has had a “passed by water” filming
On the other hand, the actress also talked about how hard the filming of The Little Mermaid turned out to be, since se spent in the water for 13 hours straight for several days of recording where its director, Rob Marshall, used practical water tanks and visual effects to recreate the underwater sequences.
“I tried harder than ever in my life. And I feel that the message of [Ariel] it was knowing you’ve always had it in you,” Bailey said.
