Greece has started qualifying for the European Football Championship with a win over Gibraltar. In Faro, Portugal, where Gibraltar played a home game, it became 3-0 for the former European champion. Both countries play in the same qualifying group as the Dutch national team.
After just over 10 minutes, Giorgios Masouras put Greece ahead. Just before the break, Manolis Siopis scored the second goal for national coach Gustavo Poyet’s team. After the restart, Greece was further ahead by Tasos Bakasetas.
Gibraltar is the next opponent of the Orange on Monday. Greece then plays against Ireland, the fifth country in the group.
