Intel and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation announced the sensitive passing of Gordon Moore at the age of 94 last Friday, March 24, 2023, peacefully and surrounded by his family at his home in Hawaii, United States.
Gordon Moore was one of the pillars of one of the most important companies in the computing industry, Intel, a company that he founded in 1968 together with his colleague Robert Noyce.

Gordon Moore made great contributions in the technology industry
Moore was born in 1929 in San Francisco, majored in chemistry, and joined the technology industry after completing his doctoral studies. In 1956, Moore joined Shockley Semiconductor, the first company to settle in what is now known as Silicon Valley, the most important technology development and production site on the planet.
After 1 year, Noyce and 6 other colleagues from his former company founded Fairchild Semiconductor, a division of Fairchild Camera and Instrument.
Moore in 1968 founded Intel again along with his colleague Noyce, and the two hired Andy Groove, who would later become the company’s CEO. The three were considered the Trinity of Intel, a company where he held positions as president, chief executive vice president and chairman of the board of directors until he left in 2006.
