In recent months, the rise of artificial intelligence tools has led to thinking about different scenarios in which technology can be integrated into development processes. Video games are no exception and although today there are already studies that make use of AI, the outlook shows important changes and companies are already beginning to prepare the ground for when this happens, such as Google.
Google proposes an AI to replace testing in game development
According to a report by Insider-Gaming, Google recently registered a patent that proposes an AI system that intervenes in part of the video game development process. Specifically, this AI would be in charge of the tests, something that is currently carried out by workers known as “testers” and quality control areas, both undervalued in labor and salary by the industry.

Google points out the need to change the traditional elements in the creation of a video game
The patent titled “EFFICIENT GAME TRAINING FOR ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE” refers to the creation of a character and a game model with data obtained from the development process itself, which would be tested in real time allowing progress, successes, errors and if what is proposed and developed resonates with the plans of the creatives.
In this regard, the Google patent also indicates that video game development currently faces difficulties and some of them are based on elements that have not been modernized despite technological advances. In that sense, he names testing processes that are “predominantly manual, highly dependent on humans repeatedly playing around and looking for defects.”

According to Google’s idea, there are traditional elements in game development that can be replaced by AI tools in order to make it more efficient and less complex.
